Hanna-Piritan Sarjisblogi

Olen nimittäin juuri nyt Ruotsissa Tukholman sarjisfestareilla ja tämä päivitys on ajastettu ilmestymään blogiini jo viime maanantaina. Joka tapauksessa, tämä on tarina äidistäni ja äidilleni.

Sain äidiltäny myös kehuja toki, mutta vain silloin kun niille oli tarve. Äitini sanoi minulle suoraan jos jokin asia ei mennyt hyvin ja se sai minut kestämään rakentavaa kritiikkiä paljon paremmin. Osaan kuunnella kritiikkiä hyvin ja ottaa siitä opikseni, kiitos äitini rehellisyyden.

Kuten viime postauksessani sanoin, olen pysytellyt poissa sarjisblogeista, mutta se ei tarkoita sitä, ettenkö tekisi koko ajan lisää LGBT/feminismi/aktivismi-sarjakuvia! Olen nimittäin tehnyt niitä nyt vain enemmän englanniksi ja tumblrin puolelle. Tässä yksi hieman keveämpi suosikkini.

Tein tämän sarjakuvan itseasiassa Gaijin-antologiaamme, mutta sitten se ei mahtunutkaan itse lehteen, joten ottakaapa tästä sarjakuvaa suhteestani Narutoon!

Jos joku tietää vaikkapa blogin jossa olisi positiivisessa valossa ihmisiä erilaisilla vartaloilla harrastamassa liikuntaa, kertokaa minulle, linkkaan sen tähän. Sellaiselle olisi tarvetta ainakin täällä minulla. Liikunta ei ole kivaa jos sitä tekee siksi, että vihaa itseään niin paljon että haluaa muuttua. Liikunta on kivaa jos sitä tekee siksi, että haluaa pitää hauskaa liikunnan avulla.

Ja siltä varalta, että sellaista blogia ei löydy, haastan nyt teidät kaikki bloggaamaan itsestänne liikkumassa. Tämä on tositapahtuma lapsuudestani ja kuten lapsi yleensä, kuvitelmani mieheydestä ja naiseudesta eivät olleet kovinkaan kehittyneitä.

Huomioikaa että en puhu tässä alkoholisteista, vaan puhun ihmisistä jotka välillä huvin vuoksi juovat liikaa alkoholia. Minulla ei ole kokemusta alkoholismista, joten jätän sen asian käsittelyn Kuningatar Alkoholille. Sen sijaan mielenterveysongelmat ovat asia mistä tiedän enemmän kuin tarpeeksi, joten painotan, tämä sarjakuva kertoo siitä miten ihmiset eivät ole valmiita ymmärtämään virheitä joida tehdään mielenterveysongelmien takia.

Find five differences!

H-P: In both pictures the person is messed up and saying things he doesn’t mean. – In the first one he’s messed up because of alcohol and in the second one because of mental health problems.
H-P: Why do people reacht like this?
Happy woman: Hey I get it, you were drunk, it’s okay
Angry woman: How can you say something like that? I’ll never forgive you.
H-P: In another case the person is sick and in another one he has been drinking way too much by himself so that he’s in a condition where he doesn’t care what he says. (But remember, also alcoholism is a sickness.) – How is is that it’s okay to shout things when you’re drunk, but when you’re in psychosis or really anxious it’s not?
H-P: In both cases the person doesn’t do right saying what comes to mind. – But in Finlans it’s customary to forgive anything just because you were drunk. – At the same time stuff done during mental health problems is judged really harshly.
(H-P at front, back a man being really anxious holding his head) H-P: Mental health problems can really make person act against their normal sense… Sometimes they can feel so bad that they do or say something they’d normally never do. Man: I hate everything.
(H-P in front, in back man and woman holding hands) H-P: If you can forgive stuff done when others are drunk, think if you could also forgive stuff done because of mental health problems. Man: I’m sorry I was really anxious back then. Woman: Yeah… it’s okay… I’ll try to understand.

Tässä käytin nyt esimerkkinä sitä että sanoo että inhoaa toista, vaikka oikeasti on vain niin paha olo että tuntuu kuin inhoaisi kaikkea, vaikka oikeasti jopa rakastaa toista. Yleisemmin tosin mielenterveysongelmat vaikuttavat ihmissuhteisiin siten että ihmisen on vaikea pitää yhteyttä läheisiinsä. Jos kaverisi ei pidä yhteyttä mielenterveysongelmiensa vuoksi, en kannata tuomita häntä alimpaan helvettiin vaan yrittää ymmärtää että pahan olon kanssa ihmisille puhuminen, saati mihinkään lähteminen, voi olla ylitsepääsemättömän vaikeaa.

Kannattaa kuitenkin myös muistaa se, että jos toinen joko humalassa, psykoosissa, ahdistuksessa tai ihan muuten vain saa sinut toistuvasti tuntemaan olosi pahaksi, on parasta irrottaa itsensä tilanteesta suojellakseen itseään. Silloinkin kannattaa selittää toiselle järkevästi miksi et nyt tahdo enää viettää aikaasi hänen kanssaan. On tärkeää suojella myös itseään, vaikka tietysti tekisi mieli antaa anteeksi kaikki mahdollinen ja auttaa toista parhaansa mukaan. Joskus paras apu on se että ottaa itse etäisyyttä ja antaa ystävälle vaikkapa muutaman numeron mihin voi soittaa tai mailiosoitteen mihin voi mailata asioistaan. Muista että sinä itse olet se henkilö jota sinun tulee eniten suojella.

Tämä sarjakuva on suunnattu ihmisille, jotka eivät pidä itseään rasistina. Hei eivät vihaa värillisiä ihmisiä, mutta jostain oudosta syystä he käyttävät N-sanaa. Tämä ei ole täydellinen selitys siitä miksi N-sanaa ei saa käyttää, vaan tämä on mahdollisimman yksinkertainen selitys niille, jotka eivät ole koskaan kyseenalaistaneet oikeuttaan käyttää tuota sanaa. Jos haluat miettiä asiaa tarkemmin, lisään loppuun linkkejä parempiin selityksiin mm. sanan kulttuurisesta kontekstista.
This comic is for the people who don’t think of themselves as racist. They don’t hate people of colour, but they still use the n-word. This is not a perfect explanation why not to use the n-word, but this is as simple explanation as possible, for the people who have never questioned their right to use the word. If you want more information, I’ll add links at the bottom but better explanations for example the cultural context of the word.

Lesson about racism.
Hanna-Pirita: I heard this in a train in Seinäjoki.
Person 1: When I was a child I was told I can use the n-word. I don’t mean anything bad with it. I have the right to say it.
Hanna-Pirita: Sorry, buyt you’ve been lied to. You can’t say it, it’s racist.
Person 1: But I don’t mean anything bad by it.
Hanna-Pirita: Oh, really? Pekka told me I can call you an idiot. I don’t mean anything bad. (Pekka waving) Person 1: That wasn’t fun.
Hanna-Pirita: It isn’t. It’s the same way how idiot and the n-word are offensive even though you mean no harm…

Person 1: But it’s so hard to stop when I was taught this word as a child.
Hanna-Pirita: Yeah and it’s hard to learn how to read, but still people learn it. – Just start learning.
Person 1: But they use the word themselves too. Hanna-Pirita: You’re not black. – People can decide for themselves what to call themselves. You can’t make that decision.
Hanna-Pirita: If you still think you can use the n-word, you’re a racist. Person 1: Well I think I have to learn how to talk better. I don’t want to be a racist.

Minä olen valkoinen, minä en ole kokenut rasismia. Minä osaan kertoa teille vain pintaraapaisun sellaisen ihmisen näkökulmasta jolle lapsena sanottiin että n-sanaa saa käyttää. Jos todella haluatte ymmärtää asiaa paremmin, kuunnelkaa ihmisiä jotka itse kokevat rasismia. Tässä linkkejä  juttuihin joissa on enemmän järkeä kuin minun sarjakuvassani.
I am white, I have not experienced racism. I can tell you only very little about the issue by a person who has been taught to use the n-word when I was a child. If you really want to understand the issue better, listen to the people who experience racism. Here’s links to stuff that has more sense than my small comic.

H-P: Love is not something that is born inside your heart and then it gives you eternal happiness. – Love is also hard work and compromises. – If you’re not willing to work hard and make some changes, maybe long term love is not for you. – Crushes are that nice feeling and it’s not wrong to go for crushes in your life.
H-P: But if there’s more people in the relationship than you alone, make sure that all of you know what you want. – Girl one: I want to have a crush. – Girl two: I want to find deep love.
Ps. Notice that this is my experience, not a common fact. Everyone need to find their own way of loving.

Olen muuten ajatellut että yritän kääntää tästä lähin sarjakuvani sillä tavalla että käännöstä voi samaan aikaan käyttää näytönlukijan kanssa lukemiseen. Niin että käännös kertoo kaiken olennaisen sarjakuvan sisällöstä, niin että myös ihmiset joilla on ongelmia näkemisen kanssa, pystyvät lukemaan sarjakuvani sanoman, vaikka eivät kuvia näkisikään. Tarinahan näissä blogisarjakuvissa kuitenkin on aina tärkein. Jos teen jotain väärin tässä yrityksessäni saada sarjakuvistani helpompia lukea kaikille ihmisille, kertokaa niin muutan tapaani kääntää sarjakuvat.
